Week 1 in the Shark Tank!

Happy New Year! The kids are back at school and back in the pool!

The year kicked off with the introduction of our new coach Mr Tony Kelso. Tony comes to us with many years of experience and will conduct both morning and afternoon sessions during Term 1. Our new assistant coach is Phoebe Hermans. Phoebe herself is a keen swimmer and water polo player. Both of our new coaches are looking forward to getting to know the children and watching their development in the water!

A big thank you to the following families who gave up their Saturday morning during the holidays to attend our Working Bee and prepare the pool for the new term – the Henningham, Moloney, Winks, Wilson, Woodbury and Preston families…thank you.

SQUAD

We started the year with our holiday intensive sessions and have just concluded our week 1 squad assessments. As stated during the registration process, this week gives our coach a chance to look at all of the swimmers and place them in the appropriate ability levels. As such the Committee has decided to introduce Friday afternoon Stroke development sessions (3.15 to 3.45 and 3.45 to 4.15) to offer our younger swimmers who are not quite ready for Squad training. This means fewer children and lots of extra attention for those still learning basic stroke movements. Children invited to attend these lessons will be emailed directly in the next day or two.

Could all swimmers please remember to check the board on the pool deck to confirm which squad level you have been allocated to.

We apologise for any late changes, but with the large influx of new swimmers, we feel this is the course of action that will most benefit ALL of our swimmers.

CLUB NIGHT

Our first Club night will take place in Week two, on Friday the 2 nd of February (due to the Australia Day holiday this week). This term we will be implementing a new registration system with online registration for race nominations. Online registration will open every Saturday from midday and close Thursday night at 5pm. You must nominate online each week for the Friday Club Night. There will be no registrations on the pool deck. The registration link can be found on our webpage at Sherwoodsharks.com. Racing kicks off at 6pm sharp.

The canteen, BBQ and Shark Bar will be open for business as per usual. We look forward to seeing you there!

Skills sessions will also begin on February 2nd
