Swimming Season 2016/2017

Sherwood Sharks

The start of the new swimming season is fast approaching! Please see the dates below to ensure that you don’t miss out!

Our Sign-On date for Learn to Swim is Wednesday 7th September from 3pm at the Pool. Further information regarding sign-on will be available in the school newsletter and on our website next week.

Please note that all new swimmers or those hoping to move up a level will be required to attend an Assessment Session on Wednesday the 31st of August from 3pm to 4pm. Our coach Pauline will watch your child swim (for a few minutes) to correctly ascertain the correct class based on their swimming ability. This includes children hoping to move from lessons to Mini Squad but not those previously swimming in a Squad. We have chosen to do this to avoid swimmers being placed in an unsuitable class and the problems that often occur with changes and class availability early in the season. You will not be required to attend for the full hour but it may take a short while for your child to be assessed. Don’t forget to bring some afternoon tea while you wait! During this time it will not be possible to talk about class times and preferences as this will take place the following week at sign on. Any enquiries regarding this process can be directed toward our coach Pauline at swim@sherwoodsharks.com.

Our Learn to Swim and Squad classes will begin on Tuesday the 4th of October.

The first Club Night is Friday the 7th of October.

Our Working Bee to prepare the grounds for the season ahead will be held on Monday the 3rd of October at 2pm. Please come along for an hour or two and show your support for our club. Remember many hands make light work!

Finally we are looking for a new Learn to Swim Assistant. This position entails 8 hours per week…Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 5pm. We would prefer someone with learn to swim qualifications, but CPR training and a blue card are essential. Any expressions of interest can be directed to Pauline at swim@sherwoodsharks.com.
