Pool Update

Sherwood Sharks

We are very pleased to announce that repair works have begun down at the Pool! As many of you are aware, an electrical issue forced the unexpected closure of the school pool. Whilst we understand that this has caused considerable inconvenience to many of our families, swimmers and members, our utmost priority is the safety of our swimmers. The work is scheduled to be completed within the next two weeks.

In the meantime…

Squads will continue to operate on a reduced capacity at Dunlop Pool. Matteo and Ellie will be at training from Monday to Thursday 7am to 8.15am. All of our Adult Swimmers, Mini, Intermediate and Senior Squads are welcome at this time. Entry fees will be paid by the Sharks. When the pool reopens Squad swimmers will be free to make up as many sessions as they wish during the remainder of the term.

Our Learn to Swim program remains on hold until the pool reopens. We understand the difficult circumstances this may have created for our swimmers but the situation remains out of our hands. Please be assured that all lost lessons will be credited through to next term. This will be further explored when we have a definitive date for lessons to recommence.

Our Club Nights will continue as per the schedule presented at the beginning of the season. There is no Club Night this Friday night the 11th of November due to the Sherwood Street Festival. Club Night will resume next Friday night the 18th of November. Fingers crossed we may be back in the Shark Tank, if not St Aidans has kindly offered the use of their pool on a Friday evening to ensure that our skills sessions and Club Nights can continue.

The Committee, in conjunction with the school administration, have worked very hard to limit the inconveniences and difficulties that have arisen. We have been working closely with Education Qld and contractors for the approvals and processes required to carry out the repairs. We hope you understand that we have done the best we can to keep the Sharks afloat during this time. Heartfelt thanks go out to all involved. We would also like to acknowledge the generous support of Dunlop Pool and St Aidans!
