Club Championships will be held on Sunday 24 March. Warm up starts at 1 pm and racing will start at 1.30 pm.
This is the event we use to select our Age Champions and several other awards for the season. All awards will be presented at our break up party in Term 2.
Your child will swim against other children in their own age group, boys and girls swim separately and specific distances are set for each age group. Age is taken as the age the child is on the day. Swimmers must swim a minimum of 3 strokes to be eligible for Age Champion but they can still swim even if they won’t be eligible for those awards. Distances are:
9 & under 25m all strokes
10 & over 50m all strokes
There will also be some 100m events but these DO NOT count towards the Age Championship. There will also be a new event – 100m Freestyle Champion – “THE SHARK’S FIN” – decided by a race off between the fastest freestyle swimmers in a range of age groups.
To be eligible to swim you must be a financial member of the Sherwood Sharks and have swum at several Club Nights through the season. This event is not just for the best swimmers but for ALL our club swimmers, so we hope many people can attend.
Nominations close at the end of this week. You can nominate by seeing our registrars, Janelle and Rachel, at this Friday’s Club Night. Or, send an e-mail direct to Janelle at scottandjanelle1@bigpond.com
The swim season may be coming to a close but the sun is finally coming out – grab every opportunity for a swim before it gets too cold!
