The season is flying by and we have plenty happening down at the pool!
On Sunday 59 children represented the Sharks competing at the annual Oxley Road Cup. Our swimmers showed great sportsmanship and fabulous skills in the pool, clocking a total of 147 seconds dropped in personal best times! We finished a very close second place behind Graceville (watch out next year). Thank you to our fabulous coach Tony for his hard work preparing our swimmers for the meet. Thanks also to our tireless Committee and those parents who helped out on the day!
This Friday night we will be hosting WBAC – West Brisbane Aquatic Club for a night of racing. The evening will progress as per normal with the Bar and Canteen open, and a great raffle prize up for grabs.
Club Championships will take place next Friday night commencing at 5pm. Registrations will close this Friday night so make sure you see a registrar on the pool deck or head to our website to register. A few points to consider on the night:
- Swimmers will compete according to age on the Blocks (as per Swimming Qld’s standard meet rules)
- All swimmers must wear caps in the pool at all times.
- Starts will be over the top except in backstroke –swimmers to stay close to the wall holding onto the lane ropes with caps on
- Swimmers must touch the wall with two hands in both Breastroke and Butterfly.
- We will have two judges working during the evening. Incorrect technique will not be disqualified but places will be adjusted at the discretion of our judges.
- Places will be decided by the Judges and not by the swimmer’s time. Judge’s decision is final.
There will be no skills session next week. Warm up will take place between 4.15 and 4.45 with racing scheduled to begin at 5.00pm.
We also hope to take a club photo immediately prior to the races commencing. This photo will appear on the website and possibly in the school newsletter and magazine. If you do not wish your child to be in this photograph, please advise them not to come over for the photo.
Overdue Fees
We have a large number of swimmers who have not yet paid fees for the season. These people will be contacted again in the next few days. Please ensure that your account is settled ASAP. Children whose fees have not been settled will be unable to compete in the Club Championships.

Term 2 Swimming
At this point we would like to gauge interest in a 5 week swim season to take place in Term 2. At this point we plan to offer Tuesday and Thursday morning and afternoon sessions from Tuesday 17th of April (Week 1) to Thursday 13th of May (Week 5). We anticipate the pool will be heated during this time. Please follow the link if you might be interested in squads or lessons during this time.
