Only one sleep to go! All nominations are complete and races arranged. We hope you are excited and ready for a huge Friday night at the Shark Tank. Following is some important information regarding the evening.
Order of Events
- The pool will be open from 4.30pm to 4.45pm for those children wishing to warm up.
- At approximately 4.50pm the 2017/2018 Club and Vice Captains will be announced.
- 5pm Racing Commences.

Freestyle
Children will swim in separate boys and girls races within their age group. In some instances, races may have combined age groups to maximise the efficiency of the evening. Despite this, places will be awarded within age brackets. EG…if a race has two 5 year olds and two 6 year olds, then two 1st place ribbons and two 2nd place ribbons will be awarded.
We anticipate finishing our last race between 7.30pm and 8.00pm.
*There will be no Skills Sessions this Friday*
Our Age Champions will be announced at our next Friday Night Meet on Friday the 17th of November (No Club Meet on 10th November due to Sherwood Street Festival).
Rules and Regulations
- Swimmers will compete according to their age on the blocks (as per Swimming QLDs’ standard meet rules).
- All swimmers must wear caps.
- Places will be decided by the Judges and not by the swimmers’ time. The Judge’s decision is final.
- Children will not be disqualified however the Judge may adjust placings to take into account any major technical infringements. This will ensure that children swimming correctly will be rewarded for their achievement.
- Start will be over the top except in backstroke, where swimmers will stay close to the wall holding onto lane ropes.
Volunteers Required
As you can imagine, we rely on volunteers to run our Club Nights, particularly a larger event such as the Club Championships. Whilst the Committee are filling a majority of the roles we will still be needing assistance on the night. Can you help?
- Canteen will require 2 helpers from 4.30 to 6pm and 2 from 6.00pm to 7.30pm
- BBQ will require 2 helpers from 4.30 to 6pm and 2 from 6.00pm to 7.30pm
- 6 We will also try to organise shifts to ‘share the load’.
If you can assist please write your name on the whiteboard as you come in. We greatly appreciate your assistance.
Food and Drink

A safety reminder: ALL GLASS IS PROHIBITED in the pool area.
Beer ($4), Red and White Wine ($5) will be available for purchase. Enjoy Responsibly!
Canteen
The Canteen and BBQ will be in full operation. We ask you to place your orders prior to 7pm to allow us to meet demand.
Sausage on Bread – $2
Sushi – $3 (Sells out…please pre-order)
Hamburgers – $5
Steak Burgers – $7
A range of chips, drinks and iceblocks will also be available.
Clean Up
Many bins are placed around the Shark Tank, please use them and ensure your children do too. At the end of every club night the pool area should be left as it is found
