The last few weeks of the season are a very busy time down at the Pool.
Oxley Cup
This Sunday is the Oxley Road Cup which will be hosted at the ‘Shark Tank’ (aka Sherwood Pool) on Sunday the 6th of March. Gates will open at 12.30pm for warm up with racing due to commence at 1pm. The Canteen will be fully operational with the BBQ running and we have put together a selection of fabulous raffle prizes for your support.
We are still in need of a few volunteers on the day. If you are able to help in the Canteen or BBQ on our second shift (from 2.30pm) your help would be greatly appreciated. We would also really love someone who is willing to be our photographer for the Carnival. Please email president@sherwoodsharks.com if you can help us out. Volunteers who have already put their names down should receive an email to confirm their role on the day.
We look forward to an exciting day of racing against our rivals at Graceville and Oxley State Schools!
Skills Session
This Fridays skill session has been devoted to the Oxley Cup Team to prepare for the carnival. Could swimmers please be on the pool deck no later than 4.45pm. Normal Club Night will follow at 6pm.
Club Championships
Next Sunday, the 13th of March, the Club Championships will be held at the pool. Club Championships are a Sherwood only meet with swimmers competing for age champion of their respective age groups.
The event will commence at 2pm with gates open at 1.30pm for warm up.
All children who wish to compete MUST complete their nomination before 6pm next Wednesday the 9th of March. There are two ways to register:
1. Email Coach Ben… coach@sherwoodsharks.com
2. Complete the nomination form available at the Pool. These can be found with Ben or at Club Night this Friday.
All swimmers who are 9 years or under will swim 25m races, 10 years and older will swim 50m races. The 100m freestyle will only be available for the 10 years, 11 years and 12+ years age groups.
Everyone who swims will be eligible and will receive points for age champion. However, it is advised that anyone who wishes to take out their respective age championship should compete in all races available to them as, mathematically it is very difficult for a swimmer to make up the points if they do not compete in all races within their age group.
NB: There will be no 15m races on the day
This meet is a chance for all swimmers who are involved in the club to compete in a slightly more formal, however still friendly competition. Results from the day will be announced at our Presentation Night and Season Break Up on Friday the 18th of March at our Club Night.
If you require any further information please see our website Sherwoodsharks.com.
Go the Sharks! Best of luck to all of our swimmers on Sunday.
